Search Engine Optimization – Definition and Importance
A lot of people might only know that SEO stands for search engine optimization, but the importance and implementation is known only by few. The simplest explanation for SEO is the way of organizing your web pages in order to achieve first page position on Google search result based on certain keywords. There are millions (or even billions) of websites listed on the internet. Achieving first page position on Google search result held vast importance since the number of information on internet is countless. Searching for information on the internet would be similar to searching for an item in a labyrinth like market, flooded with countless of merchants which offered countless number of items. Search engine is the only way to sort all of these informations. As we all know, the mostly used search engine is Google. Optimizing your website is necessary if you want your website your website to rank first page on Google search result. Only few people that even bother to look for the second and third page; and almost no one would open the tenth page.
How to Perform Search Engine Optimization
There are two main aspects which you need to optimize from your website; on page and off page aspects. Off page factors are backlinks, page rank, and meta descriptions. On page factors are everything regarding the content of your website. Content is what search engine is searching for; therefore on page optimization is mostly about content. Contents of a website need to be informative and also attractive. Your website needs to be friendly not only to search engine, but also to internet user as your targeted customer. Most webmasters only concern in optimizing their website for search engine, and neglect internet user as their end customer. SEO does aim to achieve high rank in search result, but the content of your website must also informative and useful. First page ranking on Google search result will be meaningless if the content of your website is only understandable by robot. Traffic will not be generated from websites with pointless content. Comprehensibility is also something Google included into their algorithm.
