Billion dollars’ worth renovation has changed the appearance of Mineta International Airport in San Jose, from its previously bus station like into high-tech airport with Eco Green Building concept filled with Eco Friendly Gadget. Terminal A also gets renovated, presenting the entirely new appearance of the airport, and now being considered as the most advanced airport in United States. Being located in the middle of Silicon Valley, the high technology industrial area, does giving the advantage for Mineta International Airport for developing its technology, which eventually improving their business processes, partnerships with both tenants and airlines, and also reducing operational costs.

Passengers can now easily plug power outlets for their notebooks and gadgets since they are now built into the chair armrests. The chair is also equipped with ventilation system underneath. Paging system for displaying text messages is now being placed directly into the walls, using new digital flat screen panels, high tech and energy efficient at the same time. These digital paging systems are made by Wyse Technology, based in San Jose.

The airport is equipped with multimillion dollars network, the technology is using Cisco Systems and the software supplied by VMware. That allows airlines to efficiently share gates and ticket counters. This new system will also allows airport officials to manage traffic (both planes and passengers) more easily. Since all gates are using the same system, any airline can now use any gate, and officials can easily transfer planes to different landing gates.

By using one network system, the airport can significantly reduce cable installation. The airport’s technology infrastructure is already being prepared for future technology. This includes the digital services that will be offered by airlines such as bar code check in and boarding systems using bar code displayed on gadgets such as iPhone or BlackBerry. Body and baggage scanners that placed at security checkpoints are also upgraded. The new system use for baggage scanning and processing requires less employees, therefore reducing costs and potential injuries as well. (continue reading…)

Apple has released their new concept gadget design, iWatch; a bluetooth wristwatch that can synchronize with other Apple gadgets such as iPhone and iPad. With silver colored casing and full LCD screen, this concept gadget surely looks stylish and futuristic, and maybe useful for Gadget Gift Ideas. But there is no more than that. Despite its 16 GB internal storage, this Eco Friendly Product can do nothing but looks stylish and futuristic.

Do we really need a gadget that is able to connect ALL the other gadgets we have? Its ability to answer calls from your iPhone sounds like a joke to me. Do you “really” need a gadget to answer a phone that you placed in your pocket? I do find the weather display is useful to be put on a wristwatch, but RSS Feed and photo display? Would you prefer to see news or images on two inch screen? My eyes feel tired already. To make it even more ridiculous, the designer team decided to add the extra feature of in-build mini projector called the pico projector. Now my wrist feels tired.

  • LG Solar Powered Mobile Phone

Mounted with solar powered battery on its back cover, ten minutes exposure to sunlight will give ten minutes talk time for this LG mobile phone. Understandably, more sunlight exposure to this gadget will give you more talk time. In the future, LG is planning to pack their Eco Friendly Gadgets in an environmentally friendly packaging, including using cardboard made from recycled paper which does not use laminate coating. As an addition, the company planning to remove chemicals such as Brominated Flame Retardants (BFR), Chlorinated Flame Retardants (CFR) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) from their phone manufacturing process no later than 2010. The mobile phone is also compatible with solar car kit for HFB-500 Bluetooth hands-free device that will allow phone conversation during driving.

  • Samsung Blue Earth

Samsung has launched a remarkable Environmentally Friendly Gadget with fully installed solar panel on the back of their gadget that enabling power generating through sun exposure. Samsung Blue Earth is relatively small, and it is convenient to use. However, Samsung does not stop on solar powered battery. They are all out with this gadget. The plastic for the gadget’s body is made from recycled bottles, with no Brominated Flame Retardants, Beryllium or Phthalates used as a component for the materials. This Eco Gadget is equipped with various environmental features such as energy saving mode, CO2 calculator and a pedometer as well. The packaging is also made from recycled paper.

  • Motorola Renew W233

Motorola has registered great declining in their sales. Now they are attempting to return as one of the best among the mobile phones manufacturers using the eco friendly issue. The Motorola Company intended to demonstrate their concern to ecological issue by launching the world’s first carbon free mobile phone. Currently, Motorola’s Renew W233is the only mobile phone with carbon free certification in the market, with 100 percent recyclable phone casing created from recycled bottles as its main feature. The packaging also use less material, 22 percent less than standard packaging, with soy based ink and recycled paper used to print the user’s manual. Prepaid envelope is also included in the starter pack, as an extra value to the company’s campaign regarding ecological issue. When this gadget achieved the end of its lifespan, customer will only need to send back the gadget to the manufacturer using the envelope. The manufacturer will do recycling for them.

  • Sony Ericsson C901 and Sony Ericsson J105 Naite

Leading manufacturer is not left behind to produce Eco Gadgets issue. Sony Ericsson launched two incredible mobile phones, the Sony Ericsson C901 and Sony Ericsson J105 Naite Cybershot.
